About the School
Rikama Education is looking for Teaching Assistants. The role is in a supportive and nurturing environment for children with a range of special educational needs (SEN). The school provides tailored support to help every student achieve their full potential in both academic and personal development.

We are looking to support the school in finding a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join the Teaching Assistant team and support students in their educational journey.

Role Overview:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our primary and secondary aged students with special educational needs. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to deliver a range of tailored interventions that meet the individual needs of our students. Your role will include both academic and pastoral support, fostering an inclusive, positive, and encouraging learning environment.

There are specific male students who needs support and personal care at this school, hence the role being suited to a male applicant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with a variety of special needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and emotional/behavioural challenges.
  • Assist with classroom management and support students during lessons, ensuring they are engaged and making progress.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students where necessary, focusing on their individual learning and personal development.
  • Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and help track students’ progress.
  • Support students in developing social skills, independence, and emotional regulation.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and other professionals to plan and deliver interventions.
  • Promote positive behaviour and provide personal care when required.
  • Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and contribute to regular reviews of their development.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, ideally in a special needs or educational setting.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication skills, both with students and colleagues.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate flexibility and adaptability.
  • Patient, empathetic, and understanding approach to working with children with diverse needs.
  • Male candidates are particularly encouraged to apply due to the requirements of the role.

Desirable Qualifications/Experience:

  • Relevant qualifications / experience (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, and at least one years’ experience in an education role, or similar suitable transferrable role).
  • Training in autism, behaviour management, or other SEN-related areas is desirable.
  • Experience supporting students with physical disabilities or medical needs is a plus.
