Two-in-Five Pupils Unsure on How to Get Mental Health Help

A new report has shown that almost 38 per cent of all aged pupils admitted that they wouldn’t know where to go to access mental health support within school and 52 per cent said that they would not feel comfortable or confident approaching any school staff for help. Statistics have shown that three-in-five young people have experienced some form of mental health or know somebody that has.

Optimistic findings revealed

From the report, many optimistic findings came to light, such as many pupils agreeing that their school providing appropriate support by encouraging positive wellbeing however, some young students are really suffering and do not know where to turn to. In recent times, mental health has increased dramatically, or perhaps the way we identify certain aspects has improved?

The government are doing a lot to help combat mental health such as introducing it within the curriculum to increase awareness, giving teachers additional training to spot signs of mental health and creating a ‘Green Paper,’ to identify the issues however there is no urgency in acting on the results.
