Less than 8% off Target for Education Mentor
Target for the government’s flagship programme of ‘Catch-Up Mentors’ to assist and help students learn through their missed lessons during Covid is currently 92% off, according to the Department for Education.
The target from the government was to give extra tuition to 252,000 students throughout the country.
An estimated 20,000 pupils have started tuition packages – this is less than 8% uptake.
A new report issued by the DfE has stated that the government has not made an assessment of how many individual pupils have received tutoring through academic mentors or tuition partners.
Do you know any students that have been part of the programme? Or offered the programme? What can be done to ensure our students catch up efficiently?
