Behaviour Crackdown and Pay Rises

Over the last couple of days, it seems you can’t turn anywhere without seeing the phrase ‘Leaked Document.’ The one that interests us teachers would be from the DfE which suggests, worryingly, ‘will back teachers to use reasonable force,’ however they are yet to clarify what ‘reasonable force’ extends to. The DfE have also released information about pay increase as starting salaries can rise to £30k.

The leaked document has explained that teachers are urged to confiscate mobile phones wherever possible and can use ‘reasonable force’ to combat behaviour and crackdown on those who disturb those in classrooms.

Too Much Support/Teaching Assistants?

Downing street and the DfE have announced that there are too many teaching assistants working in the education system, which frankly, I find appalling. If anything, there is not enough support in schools and there needs to be the one-to-one teaching assistants and small group interventions to ensure that children get that additional help where needed.

Perhaps the reason for ‘so many TA’s’ is because enough funding was not given to schools to recruit teachers, and therefore schools need unqualified teachers, or in some cases, TA’s to help cover the class.
