Announced today, pharmaceutical developers Pfizer and BioNTech, have developed a coronavirus vaccine that effects 90% of people in preliminary testing. The vaccine has been tested on 43,500 people across six countries which caused no safety concerns at all.
COVID – When will it end?
Both Pfizer and BioNTech are expected to apply for emergency approval to use the vaccine by the end of November. The vaccine, which uses an experimental approach, involves injecting part of the virus’s genetic code into the body to train the immune system.
The vaccine is two injections, three weeks apart; the countries involved are the US, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, South Africa, and Turkey, which showed 90% protection within seven days of the second dose.
Although we might be far from vaccinating everyone; it is positive news to the world that vaccines are working.
