Not long now until the 2019 General Election, you will more than likely hear a variety of different stories from all parties for what they can promise going forward in differing categories. The Green Party has stated that our countries schools are being run ‘like businesses,’ and because of this; it is driving teachers out of the profession. Alongside this statement, The Green Party views also extend to pupils are treated like ‘battery hens’ and are among the unhappiest children in the world.
Green Party – Children Treated like Battery Hens
‘Education has lost its way…children are simply treated like battery hens; weighed, observed and ticked off.’ In a way, I agree with these statements however I believe ‘battery hens’ is an ill-informed description of our students. There does need to be more freedom with the curriculum, which seems to be moving towards the ‘discovery’ route for children however more work needs to be done.
