Every school in the country will be on half-term soon, some are already kicking back and enjoying the rest, but would you prefer having a one week or two-week half-term? Is one week enough time to fully recharge from the previous term? Is two weeks too long?
Teaching is All-Or-Nothing Profession
As all educators know, teaching is an all-or-nothing profession; in order to be the most effective teacher possible you must think, eat and sleep teaching. During non-term time, teachers feel they must do everything to manage their life; dentist, hair cuts spending time with friends and family. Also, let’s not forget about marking and planning for the next term.
So, what do you think? Is a week long enough? Should all schools have two-week half-terms so everyone can recharge and have a better work-life balance? To me, whether you have one or two weeks, the most important thing to keep in mind is time management; you must plan your entire time off to ensure you do not waste this precious time.
