Teachers testing positive from Covid has more than doubled this term causing staff shortages across the country. Figures from the DfE show that 1.3 per cent of teachers have tested positive from Covid last week which is twice the rate from the middle of September.
School Shortages
Schools are facing a similar situation with support staff with absences doubling since the middle of September; this, with the teacher crisis, is causing a failure to deliver some lessons as the shortage of supply teachers also dwindle.
There are currently 111,000 pupils off after testing positive for the virus – an increase of 9,000 cases in two cases.
